لعل من أبرز النقاد الذين قدموا آرائهم المختلفة في فن الشعر، هو محمد مندور (1907-1965م)، من خلال مقالاته وكتبه التي أثرت الساحة النقدية الأدبية العربية منذ عصر النهضة العربية في التاريخ الحديث حتى يومنا هذا، ولا تزال تفتح آفاقا جديدة لطلاب العلم في سعيهم لسبر أغوار هذا الفن العربي الأصيل؛ فجاءت هذه الدراسة لتحديد نظرية للشعر العربي عند محمد مندور من خلال آرائه التي أورثها لنا في مقالاته وكتبه المتعددة. اعتمدت الدراسة على المحاور الأربع التي تعتمدها الدوائر العلمية في درس الشعر وهي: اللغة، الصورة، الموسيقى، و البنية، بهدف وضع أسس لنظرية الشعر عند محمد مندور اعتماداً على تراثه النقدي الأَدبي الواسع. وقد ضمت الدراسة آراء محمد مندور فى كل من هذه المحاور الأربعة كما تضمنت المجادلات فى منهج تحليلى رسم صورة واضحة لنظرية الشعر عند محمد مندور . وقد أوضحت الدكتورة هيا الشمرى كل هذا بأسلوب راق صاف من التعقيدات .
