يعالج هذا الكتاب موضوعاً عسكرياً جديداً بالنسبة للقارئ العربي ألا وهو التكتيك الحربي مع إعطاء أمثلة منوعة. أولى هذه العمليات هي عملية عبور قناة السويس في حرب أكتوبر عام 1973 مع خرائط عدة تصور المراحل المختلفة للعملية، ثم يبين تعاوت الأسلحة المشتركة وتناسقها. التكتيك المستخدم في عبور الأنهار تحت الماء أو بواسطة الجسور. يبحث الكتاب أيضاً في حرب جنون الأطلنطي 1982 والتكتيك المستخدم في احتلال وإيرلس ردج. ينتقل إلى معالجة موضوع القوى المجوقلة مع ذكر التكتيكات الأمريكية ويعطي مثلاً على عملية إنقاذ كولويزي في زائير.
يعالج أيضاً المدفعية كسلاح وتطور هذا السلاح مع أمثلة على أنواع المدفعية. ينتقل بعدها لمعالجة ما يعرف بالحرب المنخفضة الحدة وتكتيكات حرب العصابات مع أمثلة من جنوب شرق آسيا.
وأخيراً عمليات القوات الخاصة مع إعطاء مثل على ذلك: عملية إنقاذ الرهائن في السفارة الإيرانية بلندن بواسطة قوة انجليزية خاصة. وأمثلة عملية أخرى بالإضافة إلى فصل خاص عن عمليات حرب الخليج وتطوراتها ونتائجها في عام 1991.
