ما تزال إشكالية السلطة من الموضوعات التي تحتل اهتمام الفكر السياسي فيما خص علاقة الفكر بالفرد والمجتمع والدولة. من هنا جاء اهتمام مؤلفا هذا الكتاب لوضع دراسة شاملة لعدد من الحضارات الإنسانية لمعرفة كيفية تبلور السلطة فيها. والدراسة بعنوان (إشكالية السلطة في تأملات العقل الشرقي القديم والإسلامي الوسيط) حيث تتبع المؤلفان إشكالية السلطة وموقعها في بنية الفكر الإنساني باعتماد المنهج البنيوي كأداة بحثية منهجية، وبحكم طبيعته القائمة على تفكيك البنية الكلية لموضوع الدراسة إلى بنيات فرعية ومكونات جزئية لتلك البنيات وتحليلها والبحث فيها. ومن ثم إعادة تركيبها كبنية كلية ... لذلك كله تم التركيز على ما هو متصل من الأفكار بظاهرة السلطة السياسية، وما يدور حولها من تساؤلات، حول مصدر شرعيتها وأشكالها ووظائفها وكيفية التداول وأساليبه ووسائله، فانتظمت الدراسة في ثلاثة فصول تناولت دراسة لنماذج من أشكال السلطة السياسية في الشرق القديم والإسلامي الوسيط. وكان الفصل الأول بعنوان "الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري الشرقي سيالعربي القديم، ويضم: 1- الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري المصري القديم، 2- الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري العراقي القديم، 3- الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري الليبي القديم. أما الفصل الثاني فجاء بعنوان "الفكر السياسي في الموروث الشرقي غير العربي القديم، ويضم: 1- الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري الفارسي القديم، 2- الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري الهندي القديم، 3- الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري الصيني القديم. وخصص الفصل الثالث والأخير لـ "الفكر السياسي في الموروث الحضاري العربي افسلامي الوسيط" ويضم: 1- ممهدات الفكر السياسي سيالعربي الإسلامي الوسيط لـ - بيئة الإسلام وماهيته – الجدل الديني والسياسي في الفكر الإسلامي) و 2- تاسيسات الفكر السياسي العربي الإسلامي الوسيط. وأخيراً: خاتمة وخلاصات.
