يضم هذا الكتاب ثلاثة مسرحيات "دولة الحظ. أحلاهم. البربري في الجيش" للكاتب أمين صدقي، وهو أحد أساطين الفن المسرحي ورائد من رواد الكوميديا المصرية، أثرى الحياة الفنية في مصر والوطن العربي، وقد تناولصدقي في هذه المسرحيات هموم الطبقات الإجتماعية المختلفة من خلال رؤى فكرية متأنية. وحس كوميدي راق، واستطاع أن يعبر فيهم عن الملامح العامة للشخصية المصرية، وأن يعري الواقع الإجتماعي والإقتصادي والثقافي والسياسي إبان القرن العشرين، وتعد المسرحيات الثلاثة نموذجاً حياً لأعمال صدقي المسرحية الغزيرة، والتي أظهرت بعض التغيرات على المجتمع المصري من مبادئ وقيم وسلوكيات، فقد كتب ما يزيد على ثلاثمائة مسرحية، مثلتها عدة فرق مسرحية أشهرها: فرقة الريحاني، وفرقة الكسار، وجوقة صدقي وفرقة الشيخ سلامة، وجورج أبيض، وعزيز عيد، ومنيرة المهدية، وفاطمة رشدي، وأولاد عكاشة، والجزايرلي وغيرهم، زخرت جميعها بالأنماط الإجتماعية وعبرت عن همومها وقضاياها، كما حفلت مسرحياته بالشخصيات النمطية التي تعتبر امتداداً لتراث الكوميديا الشعبية في خيال الظل والأراجوز، فجاءت انعكاساً للثقافة الشعبية، وتعبيراً صادقاً عن كافة أطياف المجتمع المصري.
