إنَّ الموت حقيقةٌ قاسيةٌ رهيبةٌ تواجه كلَّ حي، فلا يملك لها ردّاً، ولا يستطيع لها أحدٌ ممن حوله دفعاً، وهي تتكرر في كل لحظة، يواجهها الكبار والصغار، والأغنياء والفقراء، والأقوياء والضعفاء، ويقف الجميعُ منها موقفاً واحداً، لا حيلةَ، ولا وسيلة، ولا قوة، ولا شفاعةَ، ولا دفعَ، ولا تأجيلَ، مما يوحي بأنها قادمةٌ من صاحب قوة عُليا لا يملك البشر معها شيئاً، ولا مَفَرَّ من الإستسلام لها.
وكلُّ نفس تذوقُ هذه الجرعة، وتفارقُ هذه الحياة، لا فارق بين نفسٍ ونفسٍ في تذوُّق هذه الجرعة من هذه الكأس الدائرة على الجميع، إنما الفارق في شيء آخر، الفارق في قيمة أخرى، الفارق في المصير؛ هذه هي القيمة التي يكون فيها الإفتراق، وهذا هو المصير الذي يفترق فيه فلان عن فلان، القيمة الباقية التي تستحق السعيَ والكدَّ، والمصير الخوّف الذي يستحق له ألف حساب.
وفي هذا الكتاب تذكرة وعظة يذكر بها هادم اللذات ومفرق الجماعات وميتم البنين والبنات، لتكون حافزاً لنا في الإستعداد للموت وما بعده بعمل الصالحات والتسابق في القربات التي ترضي رب البريات سبحانه وتعالى.
