وئل الامام الغزالي - رحمة الله تعالى - عن الروح فأجاب : "هذا سؤال عن سرح الروح الذي لم يؤذن لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في كشفه لم ليس أهلا له، فإن كنت من اهله فاسمع: واعلم ان الروح ليس بجسم يجل في البدن حلول الماء في الإناء ، وهو عرض يحل في القلب والدماغ حلول السواد في الأسود، والعلم في العالم ، بل هو جوهر وليس بعرض ، لأنه يعرف نفسه وخالقه ويدرك المعقولات". فقيل له : لم منع الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم من إفشاء هذا السر، وكشف حقيقة الروح؟
كتاب شيق وبسيط للإمام الغزالي يتناول الإجابة عن بعض الأسئلة ، ومن خلالها تناقش بعض القضايا الإسلامية المهمة ، يبدأ الكتاب بترجمة موجزة للإمام الغزالي ، ثم يعرض للأسئلة والإجابة عليها ، ومن موضوعات الأسئلة الروح ، والسؤال عن الحقيقة ، ومعني النفخ في الروح ،والسؤال عن معاني بعض الأحاديث النبوية
