تختلف الأحداث والوقائع وتتنوع التفاصيل والأدوات، ولكن تظلّ مفاصل كبرى زمانية وموضوعية تشير إلى التغيرات والتحولات المتعاقبة التي ينتقل معها "النظام العالمي" من مرحلة إلى أخرى من مراحل تطوره، صعوداً وهبوطاً، فاعلين ومفولاً بنا.
و من ناحية أخرى، تظل مجموعة من الثنائيات المفاهيمية-المتضادة لدى البعض أو المتقابلة لدى البعض الآخر-تغلّف عمليات التغييرلا وتؤطّرها، وعلى رأسها: الواقع/الفكر، الحركة/النظرية، الداخل/الخارج، الهياكل/المؤسسات، السلطة/المعرفة...إلخ.
و في حين تبحث اتجاهات فكرية وحركية عن الحفاظ على الهياكل والمؤسسات ومنظومات القيم المهيمنة باعتبار أن السائد هو العالمي؛ فإن اتجاهات أخرى تبحث عن "التغيير" بل عن التحول في النظام العالمي؛ لأن القائم "ليس الأفضل وليس العالمي" ز إنما هو نتاج مركزية حضارية غربية تدّعي العالمية باسم الحداثة والعلمانية.
هذا الكتاب يمثّل عملة ذات وجهين: الوجه الأول يقدم حالة أزمات النظام العالمي من منظورات علم العلاقات الدوليّة المقارنة، مع التركيز على النقدية منها الساعية إلى التغيير الدولي. والوجه الثاني يقدّم الأطروحات المقارنة حول الديموقراطية والعدالة العالمية، انطلاقاً من دواعي دائرتنا الحضارية العربية والإسلامية واحتياجاتها.
