هذا مصنف يحتوي على كتابين حملا نفس العنوان الأول "بر الوالدين ما يجب على الوالد لولده وما يجب على الولد لوالده" وهو من تصنيف الإمام "أبي بكر محمد بن الوليد بن خلق القرشي الطرطوشي" والثاني جمل نفس العنوان بر الوالدين ولكنه من تأليف الحافظ الجوزي البغدادي والكتابين بما قدما يعدان من أهم ما صنف في القضايا المتعلقة بالوالدين وذوي الأرحام: من حديث يروى، وحكم فقهي يحكى، وخلاف يستقصى، واستنباط يجتهد فيه، إلى مثل يذكر وخبر يقص، ونكتة تورد، غلى شعر يستملح، وقصة تستجاد، وموعظة يعتبر بها.
كما وفي الكتاب أحاديث عن الشكر والبر والإحسان والصلة بالمعروف.. وما للوالد من الحج والعمرة والجهاد وطلب العلم والتجارة وشبه ذلك، ونظر لما لهذين الكتابين من أهمية فقد عني بإخراجهما في هذه الطبعة محققين، وبالرجوع لعمل المحقق نجد أنه يتجلى بـ: أولا": اعتنى بتفسير الكلمات العربية أو الصعبة -نسبياً-بعبارة وجيزة ومركزة وفتقاه من كتب اللغة، ثانياً: ضبط كافة الأحاديث والكلمات المحتاجة إلى ضبط في الأخبار والأشعار الواردة. ثالثاً: عرف بالأعلام الوارد ذكرهم في الكتاب، رابعاً: قدم للكتابين نبذة مختصرة عرفت بمضمونهما.
