"عبث أحد أحفاده بالمنبِّه فلم يستيقظ الشيخ لصلاة الفجر، وتصادف أن كانت زوجته قادمة لتوها من الحج، وبعد أن أم الناس في صلاة العصر خاطبه أحد الشباب أمام المصلين: لم تُصلِّ بنا الفجر، يبدو أن "أم عبد الله" نائمةٌ على رأسك، لا تعد يا شيخ لمثل هذا...!.
ضحك الشيخ وجماعة المسجد ثم قام إلى الشاب وأعطاه "ريالين" من الفضة..".
- "سأله أحدهم - وكان يتعلم اللغة الإنجليزيَّة" - : إذا قمت إلى الصلاة تذكرت دروس اللغة الإنجليزية فهل تصحُّ صلاتي...؟ فابتسم الشيخ متعجباً من سؤاله، ولم يَعِبْ أو يُعنّفْ في وقت كان تعلم اللغة نفسه موضع استنكار..!.
