إن ما تناولته هذه الرواية، من إلمام بعالم البترول، وما أفرزه ويفرزه من صفقات ومؤامرات ودسائس وعوالم المال والجنس، قد يكون فيها بعض خيال وكثرة من حقيقة. وقد يكون الكاتب أراد الإساءة إلى العرب والشرق ككل. لكن سادة بعض عوالم البترول، ما زالوا يعتبرون هذه الثروة ملكاً خاصاً، يتصرفون بها بالشكل الذي كشف عنه الكاتب، بدل أن يحولوا الثروة البترولية إلى ملك وطني وقومي، ويوظفوه في خطط أنحاء تطال الأرض العربية كلها وفي خطط دفاع وتعبئة تطال معظم الدول العربية التي تحتاج إلى دعم ومساندة. ترى هل إذا حلت أزمة الشرق الأوسط بشكل ما، حلت مؤقتاً على الأقل، هل يمكن التوجه إلى البترول الضائع لاسترجاعه؟ البداية هي في مواجهة خطة بعثرة الثروة البترولية، ثم التوجه لنزع الملكية الخاصة لهذه الثروة، وجعلها ملكية وطنية قومية.
هذه هي البعثرة وأبطالها في الرواية. أبطالها سمات تتلقف الثروة في حنايا أنابيب البترول، كعلق يمتص دم الشعوب وثروات تلك الشعوب، فئران أنابيب غارقة في وحول البخشيش وخليط تغدر من الجنس والتآمر والجاه الكاذب. هذا بخشيش العالم الأسود الذي أفرزه الذهب الأسود، عالم على حقيقته في كتاب. وهذا الكتاب-الرواية-كان يجب أن يصدر، لكنه صدر وبلغة أجنبية يهدف تعميم ما فيه من إساءة إلى العرب، على العالم من جهة، ويهدف من إبقاء العرب الذين لا يقرأون لغة أجنبية غافلين عن عالم هذا الكتاب، الرواية، من جهة ثانية.
أما وقد صدرت هذه الرواية بكل ما فيها من معلومات وحوادث صريحة، تشير إلى أشخاصها الفعليين بأسماء مستعارة، وبكل ما فيها من أحداث ووقائع مختلفة وخيالية أحياناً، رأى المترجم أنه لا بد من نقلها إلى العربية لوضع العرب كافة، وبالذات الجماهير العربية، في صورة معركة المستقبل القريب، معركة النفط، داخلياً وخارجيا، عربياً، وعربياً-عالمياً.
