وتأتي أهمية كتاب المقريزي في كون مؤلفه صاحب باع كبير في الكتابات التاريخية، فمن منا من لا يعرف "الخطط"، أو "كتاب السلوك"، أو "اتعاظ الحنفا". فالمقريزي يتميز بأسلوب واضح في عرضه للأحداث التاريخية، ويبعد عن التطويل الممل، والتقصير المخل، ولذلك سيجد القارئ في هذا الكتاب ما يهمه.
وقد اتبعت منهجًا في إخراج هذا الكتاب، بدأت فيه بدراسة في صلب الموضوع تناولت العلاقات بين مصر والعرب منذ أقدم العصور سبقتها دراسة عن تعريف العرب، وأهم أقسامهم. ثم تحدثت عن علاقات العرب بمصر منذ فجر التاريخ حتي الفتح الإسلامي لمصر.
ثم تحدثت عن القبائل العربية التي أتت مع الفتح، وعن أثرها في المجتمع المصري وعن عاداتها وتقاليدها، ثم أتبعتها بدراسة عن قبائل العرب الحديثة الموجودة في مصر.
وإتمامًا للفائدة زودت الكتاب بملاحق وخرائط توضح توزيع العرب في مصر وآمل أن يجد الكتاب قبولًا لدي القراء.
