المقدمة: في اشتقاق الجدل ورسمه ومادته وموضوعه وغايته ومسائله، الباب الأول: في بيان حكم الجدل شرعًا، الباب الثاني: في آداب الجدل، الباب الثالث: في أركان الجدل، الباب الرابع: في أقسام الاستدلال وحصرها بحسب الإمكان، الباب الخامس: في استقراء أكثر ما في الكتاب العزيز من الوقائع الجدلية وتخرجها على القواعد الاستدلالية على ترتيب السور والآيات، خاتمة الكتاب: في ذكر جملة من الماجريات الجدلية الواقعة في ماضي الزمان بين الناس.
وقد استغرق الباب الرابع في استقراء أكثر ما في القرآن من الوقائع الجدلية حيث سار من أول القرآن إلى آخره يجمع آي المباحث العقلية، ويقررها، ولهذا اعتبر السيوطي في "الإتقان" هذا المؤلف خاص بجدل القرآن فقال وهو يتحدث عن هذا المعنى: وقد "أفرده بالتصنيف نجم الدين الطوفي في كتابه علم الجذل في علم الجدل"، وقد حاولنا جاهدين إخراج هذا الكتاب الرائع في أزهى ثوب، وأبهى صورة.
