ميزان يعرف به رجحان الكلام من نقصانه. النحو وهو يجعل لك لسانا مبينا, فتصبح واحدا من فرسان الحديث, وتغدو قادرا على فهم الأغراض التي ترمي إليها الألفاظ , ولولاه لبقيت الكلمات مغلقة على معانيها. وهذا العلم يحفظ علينا لغتنا حتى لا نكون في يوم من الأيام غرباء عنها, وتكون هي في المستقبل ضيفا ثقيلا على ألسنتنا. يقول أحد العلماء: إن كتب القواعد الأساسية بلغت من الكمال لا يسمح بزيادة لمستزيد. والحق لا يسعنا إلا أن نقف بإجلال وإكبار إزاء تلك الجهود الجبارة التي لا تعرف الملل. غير أنهم لم يقدموا لنا علم النحو على طبق من ذهب بل يحتاج فهمه في كتبهم إلى الكثير من الكد والتعب وإعمال الفكر, لذا جاء هذا الكتاب ليبحث في قواعد اللغة العربية, وفن الصرف بطريقة تختلف عما ألفه القارئ العربي في كتب النحو. وليس معنى ذلك أنه أتى بنحو جديد, فالقاعدة هي القاعدة في أي كتاب كانت. إلا أن الذي يختلف هو: طريقة العرض التي تقوم على ركيزتين يحتاج إليهما الطالب في جميع مراحل دراسته. الأولى عرض القاعدة وشرحها شرحا وافيا. الثانية تقديم مثال معرب لكل قاعدة نحوية, فليست هناك قاعدة دون مثال معرب. وصفوة القول أن الكتاب لم يقدم علما ناقصا, بل يحيط بالموضوع من جوانبه كلها مع الأمثلة الكثيرة التي تكشف الستار عن خفايا القاعدة. والجدير بالذكر أن هذه الطبعة مزيدة ومنقحة من الأخطاء. ويتسم الكتاب بالبساطة في الأسلوب والسهولة في التعبير والعمق في الأفكار .
