تناولت فصول الكتاب طبيعة التحدي الأمريكي لحقبة ما قبل السلام أو لنقل حقبة الحرب الباردة التي اشتعل فتيلها بعد أن وضعت الحرب الكونية أوزارها مصوراً إياها بصراع الخير ممثلاً بالرأسمالية الأمريكية بما حملته من دفاع عن الحرية وغرس للمبادئ الروحية وبناء أعظم للإنسان بصفته غايتها ضد الشر ممثلاً بالشيوعية السوفيتية التي كبلت الإنسان في قيدها وتوغلت إلى دواخلها فجردته من روحانياته وأضاقت عليه فجعلته جسداً يسير في قبر مفتوح.
