تمثل هذه المجموعة جميع المراحل التي مرت بها القصة القصيرة اليمنية ابتداء من أول قصة ظهرت مع مطلع الأربعينيات " أنا سعيد " لأحمد البراق كوثيقة أدبية تفيد الباحثين ، مرورا بالقصة الفنية الأولي " سعيد المدرس " 1950 م لمحمد سعيد مسواط لأهميتها أيضا - ثم المراحل المتتابعة في مسيرة القصة القصيرة اليمنية ن وقد تم ترتيب تلك القصص ترتيبا زمنيا إلي حد ما وإذا كان " أدب حقبة ما من الزمن ، هو الحقبة ذاتها كما يقول سارتر فإن القصص تقدم حقبا مختلفة تتيح للقاريء العيش مع الإنسان اليمني عبر طموحاته وإنجازاته ، وأحلامه وأمانيه ، وانتصاراته ومعاناته وانكساراته النفسية والاجتماعية علي حد سواء .
