في مجموعته الشعرية "المزمار" يستدعي الشاعر الأردني مروان مناور عويس الوطن ورموزه وأهله، ويأتي ذلك ضمن أبعاد التجربة الوطنية التي تسعى القصيدة الحديثة إلى تقديمها، لذلك سنجده يستدعي من تلك التجربة وجهها المضيء والأكثر حضوراً في حياة كل مواطن أردني إنه "ملك القلوب"، يقول الشاعر: "ما حالُ من خضعَ المَلا لجلالِهِ... وارتجَّ سطح الأرض تحتَ فعالهِ"... "فإذا أشار فكُل حَيّ طائعٌ... وإذا استُشير أجابَ قبل سؤالِهِ"... "فعَلَ الحميد من الفعال تبركاً... بالخير فاستشرى على أفعاله...".
هكذا تبدو شخصية "ملك القلوب" في خطاب الشاعر عويس مرآةً للذات المعاصرة التي تتوحد فهيا صور المجد لبلاده، وغيرها من صور الحنين والشوق إلى رؤياه، والشعب متحدين، يباركهما الشاعر بنفس أردني خالص، مليء عاطفةً وشعوراً وأصالة؛ وجزءاً لا يتجزأ من إعتزاز الشاعر بتراثه ووطنه".
قدم للكتاب بكلمة أخت الشاعر وهي "ميسون عويس" ومما جاء فيها: "ولد شقيقي الشاعر المغترب مروان عويس في عجلون عام 1944، وتمتع بجمال وإخضرارِ أشجارها، واستنشق عبير أزهارها، وطاف متجولاً بين جبالها وخلال غاباتها الجميلة، فأحيت له الموهبة التي ولدت معه فجاءت قصائده لتعكس إحساسه كشاعر، ولتظهر هذه الموهبة منذ نعومة أظفاره حيث بدأ بكتابةِ الشعر قبل أن يُنهي المرحلة الإعدادية في عجلون...
بعد هذا الغياب عن وطنه الأردن وعن عجلون، أخذ الحنينُ لدياره ولأهله بإشعال نيران مشاعره ووجدانه ليعكسها في هذه القصائد الجميلة...".
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى (شعر التفعيلة) وتوزعت على عنوانين رئيسين هما: 1-الحسينيات، 2-حنيني لوطني وأهلي.
