ليس التصوف كالفلسفة ما دامت التجربة الصوفية هى الفيصل الذي يول عليه في إدراك الصوفي للحقيقة التى ينشدها ويبذل قصارى ما عنده ليتحقق بها فإذا قلنا بالتجربة الصوفية فقد نأينا بأنفسنا عن الفكرة الفلسفية إذا ما كانت الفلسفة تخضع خضوعا تاما لتحليلات العقل النظري الاستدلالي.
ومن المؤكد الذي لا ريب فيه- انصلاقا من التركيز على فاعلية التجربة الصوفية - أن الحرية عند ابن عربي - كما هى الصوفية جميعا- عبودية محققة لله تعالى يكون العبد بمقتضاها عبدا لله فقط دون سواه، حالة كونه حجاب السبب، فإذا الحرية لديه فراغ القلب من الاسباب والعلائق والاغيار من جهة وامتلأؤه بالذلة والخضوع والافتقار المطلق لله تعالى من جهة ثانية: على ديدن الحضور وهجير العرفان.
