على نحو ما نعرف فى أبواب الضمائر المستترة، والتنازع ، والاشتغال، ونواصب المضارع من مثل الفاء والواو، وإن النحاة ليبالغون فى هذا التقدير مبالغة، تؤدي فى كثير من الأحوال، إلى أن يرفضوا أساليب صحيحة فى العربية، ويضعوا مكانها أساليب واهية غثة.
حينئذ كتب هذا الكتاب الذى سماه "الرد على النحاة" مناديا فيهم: حطموا نظرية العامل، حطموا التقدير فى العبارات حطموا الأقيسة والعلل، حطموا التمارين غير العملية، حطموا كل ما لا نفيد منه صحة فى الأداء، ولا صوابا فى اللسان.
ولم يكتف ابن مضاء بهذه الثورة الهادمة، فقد تقدم يضع حلولا جديدة لكثير من مشاكل النحو، وبذلك نهج السبيل لم يريد أن يصنف كتاب النحو العربي تصنيفا جديداً، يقوم على اليسر والسهولة.
ولقد كان من محاسن المصادقات ان أعثر على هذه الطرفة البديعة فى تلك الأوقات، التى تتحفز فيها الجهود لإصلاح النحو العربي، إصلاحا ينفى عنه الزبد، ويبقى على ما ينفع الناس. ولذلك مهدت لها بمدخل واسع، تحدثت فيه عن المؤلف وعصره وآرائه، حتى إذا فرغت من ذلك، انتقلت أبين حاجة النحو العربي إلى تصنيف جديد، يرفع عن الناس ما يفدحهم ويبهظهم فى تعلمه. ولم ألبث أن رسمت خطة هذا التصنيف، مستهديا بآراء ابن مضاء وافكاره.
والحق أن ابن مضاء يفتح أمامنا الأبواب، لكى ندرك ما كنا ننشده من تيسير النحو وتذليل صعوباته ومشاكله.
