منذ نحو خمسة وثلاثين عاما عثرت على فهرس المكتبة التيميورية بدار الكتب المصرية على كتاب بعنوان " الرد على النحاة " لابن مضاء القرطبي ، فطلبته للاطلاع عليه وإذا هو مخطوطة مليئة بالتصحيف والتحريف غير ان طرافة موضوعها اغرتني بتحقيقها ونشرها إذ رأيت ابن مضاء فيها ثائرا على نظرية العامل في النحو ثورة عنيفة. وعكفت عليها أصلح تحريفاتها وأصحح تصحيفاتها ، وأرم أسقاط الكلام بها ، مستعينا في ذلك بأصول علم النحو وأمهاته المطبوعة والمخطوطة، مما أشار إليه ابن مضاء نفي كتابه وما لم يشر اليه ، حتى استقامت نصوصها.
