تكمن أهمية هذا الكتاب "علم دلالة الأنموذج" في معالجته موضوعاً نعيشه على الصعيد اليومي، إذ يشعر القارىء أنه يجيب على تساؤلاتٍ قد مرّت بذهنه آلاف المرّات. وفي محاولةٍ للإجابة عن هذه الأسئلة وغيرها، يستعرض كليبر في علم دلالة الأنموذج ما يُعرف بنموذج الشروط الضرورية والكافية مقابل نظرية الأنموذجية بنسختيها القياسية والموسّعة. فلقد شكّل مفهوم "الأنموذجي" الذي نادت به روش في مطلع السبعينيات مفهوماً ينفصل انفصالاً جذرياً عن نموذج الشروط الضرورية والكافية الأرسطوطاليسية.
كما ويزخر هذا الكتاب بالمفاهيم التي تُعتبر جديدةً بعض الشيء بالنسبة إلى القارىء العربي. ويُعزى سبب ذلك إلى تحديده أنّ تاريخ نشأة علم ما يُعدّ أمراً حاسماً في فهم تطوّر هذا العلم. فاللغة العربية بحالتها اليوم تستورد العلوم ولا تنتجها، إذ لم يتم الإقبال على الترجمة الألسنية بلغتها العربية إلا حديثاً، وغالباً ما يُصار إلى ترجمة آخر المؤلفات الصادرة حول هذه العلوم، ومثل هذه الكتب يكون أصعب على الترجمة وأكثر تضميناً للمصطلحات الجديدة، التي إمّا تفتقر إلى المقابلات العربية، أو يُكثر ما يقابلها من المصطلحات العربية المتضاربة.
