محمد أو محمود دياب الأتليدي هو مؤلف هذا الكتاب "إعلام الناس بما وقع للبرامكة مع بني العباس" ولد في المنية في مصر، وسكن القاهرة، وتوفي فيها سنة 1688مـ ويدلنا هذا على أنه كان من كتاب عصر الانحطاط، ونرى أثر هذا العصر واضحاً في ما وضعه في كتابه هذا من تعابير انحطاطية وألفاظ عامية، وقد سماه بهذا الاسم من باب تسمية الكل باسم الجزء، لأن أخبار البرامكة لا تستغرق إلا قسماً يسيراً منه، في حين أن الأقاصيص والحكايات التي تتناول ما كان في صدر الإسلام، وأيام الأمويين، وغيرها من الأقاصيص العباسية وغير العباسية تستغرق معظمه.
والأتاليدي كان أميناً في نقله عن غيره، ينسب كل حكاية أو أقصوصة إلى الكتاب الذي أخذت عنه، أو إلى من رويت عنه، وأكثر ما أخذه عن الأصمعي وعن كتاب "حلبة الكميت" لشمس الدين النوّاجي، وكتاب "حياة الحيوان" للدميري"، و"الأغاني" لأبي الفرج الأصبهاني، وفي كل القصص التي جمعها في كتابه هذا نرى من جمال السرد وترامي الخيال وحسن الاختراع ما يدل على تمكن الروح القصصية عند العرب.
ولا عزو فالقصة قديمة عندهم، نجد عناصرها في ا لشعر الجاهلي والشعر والنثر الأمويين، على أنها لم تصبح فناً أدبياً، وإن لم يبلغ حدّ الكمال، إلا في العصر العباسي، بعد أن ترجمت أقاصيص الهند والفرس كقصص: كليلة ودمنة، وحكايات ألف ليلة وليلة، ووضعت القصص الدينية، وقصص البطولة: كسيرة عنترة وغيرها، والقصص الغرامية. وقصص الأتليدي في كتابه هذا، منها ما هو ديني، ومنها ما هو بطولي، وجلها غرامي، وغرامي غنائي، أو خمري. وكثيراً ما يشعر القارئ بما في بعضها من مخالفة للمعقول، كالتي تروي مثلاً: اجتماع إبراهيم الموصلين وابنه اسحق، وأبي نواس، بإبليس، وما دار بينهم من غناء وأحاديث، وعلى ذلك فإنه يسر بقراءتها ويلتذها لما فيها من حوادث شائعة تبعث فيه الفضول وتروقه وتسليه.
