حواديت الأخوين جريم هى حواديت ألمانيا الجرمانيه ، ما يعنى أنها تحمل جينات الروح الجرمانيه عموما ، أى السمات الروحية لكل شعوب اللغات الإندوجرمانية. ظهرت الحواديت وتم تناقلها فى أزمان لم تعرف الحدود السياسية بين الدول ، ولم تكن اللغات الأندوجرمانية قد استقل بعضها عن بعض بشكل حاسم ، فضلا عن أن زمن الحواديت قد سبق ظهور المسيحية ، الأمر الذى أرخى العنان للخيال فى الحواديت ، فحررها من كل القيود والإلتزامات الدينية ، ووجعل الانفتاح الجغرافى وتشابه اللغات والحرية الدينية : الحواديت تمر وتعبر وتنتشر وتكتسب عبر هذه لحرية والإنطلاق مزيدا من الخيال الشعبى ، ومزيدا من الإضافات والتباينات الخلافة. لذلك عندما نقول إن الحواديت التى جمعها الأخوان جريم هى "ألف ليلة وليلة" الأوروبية فإن هذا القول لايشوبه اى قدر من المغالاة.
