تعد قضايا الحدود السياسية من أهم محاور تحريك الأحداث في منطقة المشرق العربي، وهي واحدة من الآثار السلبية للاستعمار الغربي الذي انفرد بتعيين الحدود بموجب معاهدات لتوزيع مناطق النفوذ، في مناطق لم تعهد ذلك النمط من الحدود. والحدود بين السعودية وشرق الأردن واحدة من أهم القضايا التي طفت على السطح بين الحربين العالميتين. وقد لعبت بريطانيا دوراً رئيسياً في تحريك أحداث القضية.
وقد حاول الكاتب تتبع الجذور التاريخية لمشكلات الحدود بين السعودية وشرق الأردن، بدءاً من توسعات ابن سعود في شبه الجزيرة العربية في الربع الأول من القرن العشرين، ثم نشأة إمارة شرق الأردن. وما ترتب عليها من مشكلات بين ابن سعود وعبد الله ابن الحسين، ثم سارت منهجية الدراسة في خطين متوازيين هما قضايا الحدود بين نجد وشرق الأردن من ناحية وقضايا الحدود بين الحجاز وشرق الأردن من ناحية أخرى.
وقد انتهى المؤلف إلى عدد من النتائج لعل أهمها أن المصالح البريطانية خلقت العديد من المشكلات في القضية التي بين أيدينا.
