يشكل عنوان "ذكريات دامعة" مدخلاً مناسباً إلى المتن الروائي لأنه يعكس جزئية معبرة عمَا يمكن أن تعيشه "سميرة بنت الجزيرة العربية "الإسم الذي تتخفى ورائه كاتبة من الجزيرة العربية وهي تتحدث بطرف خفي عما في قلوب بنات جزيرتها وعما يجول بخواطرهن، وما عايشوه في حالات الحب، فبدت في هذه القصة وكأنها تصور حوادث واقعة بالفعل في أحد البيوت، وترشد بلسان بطلتها (عهد) إلى ما عانته في حبَها الذي اختاره لها القدر مع (علاء) الذي أحبته كثيراً، وظنت أنه تخلى عنها، فراحت تبحث عن حب آخر مع (عادل) الطبيب الذي أحبها ولم تحبه، وبعد اكتشاف عادل حجم حبها لـ (علاء) وأن الحب لا يمكن أن ينمو إلا إذا كان من طرفين، بدأ بالبحث عن (علاء) ليكتشف أن سبب اختفائه وابتعاده عن (عهد) لأنه أصيب في حادث وفقد سمعه، في تلك اللحظة قرر (عادل) التخلي عن حبه وحلَ الرباط الذي جمعه بمن أحب لأجل أن تكون (عهد) سعيدة، وتنتهي الرواية بلقاء عهد وعلاء "وكانت تقول أعينهما عن الحب.. عن اللقاء.. عن الحنين.. عن الماضي.. عن المستقبل وخيم السكون... وجففت دموع تلك الذكريات الدامعة...".
