يتناول هذا الكتاب علم الجبر وهو يعد أحد الفروع الرئيسية في علم الرياضيات، ويمكن تقسيه إلي: الجبر الابتدائي: وفيه تتم دراسة خصائص الأعداد الحقيقية، وتستخدم رموز للتعبير عن المتحولات والثوابت، وتتم دراسة القواعد التي تضبط المعادلات والتعبيرات الرياضية المدونة من هذه الرموز.
الجبر الشامل: وفيه تتم دراسة الخواص العامة لكل البنى الجبرية، الجبر الخطي: يدرس الخواص المميزة للفضاءات الشعاعية بما فيها المحددات والمصفوفات، جبر الحاسوب: وفيه تتم دراسة الخوارزميات الخاصة بالتعامل مع الكائنات الرياضية، الجبر التجريدي: وفيه تتم دراسة البنى الجبرية كالمجموعة، والحلقة، والحقل.
ونظراً لأهمية علم الجبر في الحياة العصرية فإنه يدرس في المدارس والجامعات في جميع أنحاء العالم، حيث إن التمكن الجيد في علم الرياضيات يعتمد علي الفهم الصحيح للجبر، ويستخدم المهندسون والعلماء الجبر في جميع عملياتهم، وتعول المشاريع التجارية والصناعية علي الجبر لحل الكثير من المعضلات التي تتعرض لها.
