في علم العربية لون من التأليف يمثل اتجاهاً قوياً للمحافظة على سلامة اللغة وتقنيتها مما شاع على ألسنة الناطقين بها من كلام دخيل أو مختلف عن سنن الكلام العربي، في الأصوات أو الصيغ أو نظام الجمل أو حركة الإعراب أو دلالة الألفاظ، فتذكر هذه المؤلفات الخطأ المستعمل، والصواب الذي يجب أن يجرى به الاستعمال، وقد شاعت تسمية هذا اللون باسم "لحن العامة" وعنون كثير من كتبه بهذا العنوان، وإن اتجهت كتب أخرى إلى تسمية تلائم الغرض منها، فهي "إصلاح المنطق" و "تقويم اللسان"
وقد تحددت خطوط رسالتنا هذه، بحيث تقع في قسمين:-
القسم الأول: تحقيق الكتب الثلاثة التي اخترناها، القسم الثاني: دراسة أقيمت على هذه الكتب وما تضمنت من مادة.
وبعد هذه الكلمة التي قدمت بها الرسالة، يبدأ القسم الأول بتحقيق الكتاب الأول وهو "لحن العامة" لأبي بكر محمد بن الحسن الزبيدي، ويبدأ التحقيق بمقدمة فيها ترجمة المؤلف، وشيوخه، وتلاميذه، وعنوان الكتاب، ونسبته إليه، ومصادره، ثم وصف المخطوطات التي قام عليها التحقيق، وتوثيقها، وهي الدراسة التي لابد منها في مقدمة التحقيق، وتلاه الكتاب الثاني وهو "تثقيف اللسان" لأبي حفص عمر بن خلف بن مكي الصقلي، وقد بدأ بمقدمة كالسابقة، ثم الكتاب الثالث وهو "تقويم اللسان" لأبي الفرج عبد الرحمن بن علي بن الجوزي، وبدأ تحقيقه بمقدمة كالكتابين السابقين، أما القسم الثاني الخاص بالدراسة.
