تظهر أهمية هذا الكتاب الذي نضعه بين يدي القارئ الكريم في مجموعة من الأمور التالية: فهو دعوة صريحة موجهة إلى العامة والخاصة معاً للتطلع نحو عالم النبات المجهول والاستفادة منه بشكل عملي, وهو من ناحية أخرى يسد فراغاً كبيراً في مجال التعرف إلى النباتات وفوائدها الطبية، فهو يشتمل على ما يزيد على 447 نباتاً مصنفة في أبواب: البرية والمزروعة والسامة والغريبة والمجلوبة. وقد ذكرت جميع أسماء هذه النباتات باللغات العربية واللاتينية والفرنسية. ومنعاً لأي التباس أو غموض قرنت كل نبتة بصورة فوتوغرافية لها مع رسم مكبر يوضح أجزاءها ويبينه بجلاء لتسهيل التعرف إليه.
أما من الناحية العملية، فقد تم تبين الأقسام المفيدة في النبات وكيفية جمعها وحفظها والأوقات المناسبة لكل منهما. كما تم تحديد التراكيب الكيميائية النافعة أو المضرة في النبات، وذكر كيفية الاستعمال/ خارجياً أو داخلياً أو في صناعة الأدوية.
كما تمت الإشارة إلى مقادير والكميات التي يجب التقيد بها عند الاستعمال، وهي مقادير في وحدات معروفة متداولة لا غموض فيها. إضافة إلى فوائد أخرى عديدة تجدها في طيات هذا الكتاب.
