يمثل المعلم حجر الزاوية في المنظومة التربوية، وعلى الرغم من تغير وظائفه وأدواره في العصر الحاضر، إلا أن ثورة التجديد التربوي لا يمكن أن تنجح دون أن يكون على رأسها المعلم، بل إن التغيرات المتسارعة والتطورات المتلاحقة التي تعد أبرز سمات العصر الحالي قد أضفت على أدوار المعلم أهمية متزايدة وشأناً أكبر؛ ذلك أنه يضطلع بمسؤولية جسيمة ومهمة غاية في الأهمية والخطورة ألا وهي تربية الناشئة وإعداد الأجيال وبناء العقول التي تقود مسيرة التطور الحضاري للمجتمع في ظل التحديات العالمية المعاصرة.
ونظراً لأهمية موضوع الدعم المهني والتنمية المهنية للمعلمين، فقد صدرت في الآونة الأخيرة مؤلفات عديدة تتناول هذا الموضوع الحيوي، ومن هذه المؤلفات كتاب: دعم الممارسات المهنية – الإطار التدريسي والذي يهدف إلى تزويد الممارسين والمعلمين والمشرفين التربويين والمراقبين والمدربين بالأدوات اللازمة لهم لاستخدام وتنظيم الإطار التدريسي بشكل فعّال، من أجل مساعدة هؤلاء على فحص جوانب العملية التدريسية بطريقة تدعم النمو المهني المستمر للمعلمين.
ويحتوي الكتاب الأصل باللغة الإنجليزية على نحو (190) صفحة مقسمة إلى ستة فصول وملحقين، موزعة على المواضيع المتعلقة بدلائل التدريس، ودعم التعلم المهني، واستخدام إطار التدريس عبر التسلسل المهني، واستخدام إطار التدريس للإستبانة المهنية الموجهة ذاتياً، والإجراءات المقترحة لتقويم المعلم، والتي استعرضها المؤلف بتفصيل أكثر في مقدمة الكتاب.
وانطلاقاً من الإعتقاد الراسخ بدور العملية التعليمية وأهميتها في رقي الأمم وتقدمها، وإيماناً بمكانة المعلم العربي الذي يعد صاحب مهنة سامية لها دورها المحوري في قيادة العملية التعليمية وتوجيهها إلى مسارها الصحيح، جاءت هذه المحاول العلمية الجادة لتقدم لأصحاب هذه المهنة السامية في العالم العربي دليلاً تربوياً لدعم الممارسات المهنية للمعلم، حيث يندر توافر مراجع اللغة العربية في هذا الموضوع.
