الجزيرة هي تأكيد الوجود برسم الحدود حولنا حتى لا تضيع في اللانهائية. والحكاية وما فيها أن حي "الإمام الشافعي" في جنوب القاهرة يطل عليه من الشرق جبل المقطم وتطل عليه من الغرب بحيرة عين الصيرة وجنوبه منطقة البساتين "وإذا اتجهت إلى شماله تصل إلى القدرية والسيدة عيشة والقلعة والأبجية"، تحيطه المقابر الساكتة والساكنة والمسكونة من كل الإتجاهات، لكنه حي حي ملئ بضجيج الأطفال والباعة الجائلين وأسواق الخضار وسوق الجمعة أو سوق الحمام ومولد التونسي والإمامين الشافعي والليثي، هو جزيرة الأحياء وسط بحر من الموتى.
