إذا كانت قراءةُ أدب "الآخر" تساعدنا على فهمه، فمن شأن الدراسة المقارنة التي تقيم حواراً بين الأدبين المقارَنين أن تبني جسراً متيناً لحوار شامل بين جميع مكوّنات المجتمعين اللذين أفرزا هذين الأدبين، ويعظم دورُ الأدب في المجتمعين العربي والإيراني.
والأدب بوصفه إعادة خلق للبنية الجوهرية للواقع يُعدّ من أهمّ آليات سبر غور جراح المجتمع، كما أنّه يكشف عن الآلام المشتركة التي يكابدها المجتمعان المذكوران، والتي أخذت هذه الدراسة على عاتقها إلقاء الضوء على بعضها.
وبالرغم من أنّ هذه الآلام مكشوفة لكثير من المتلقين في كلّ من المجتمعين، فإنّ الإشتراك فيها غير واضح لهم تماماً، مما يؤكد ضرورة الدرس المقارن بين المجتمعين في شتّى مجالات الحياة، وليس في مجال الأدب فحسب.
ومن أجل الحوار في حقل أدبي وقد أصبح مجالاً حيوياً للكشف عن المقموع والمسكوت عنه، انبثق موضوعُ هذه الدراسة: الرواية السياسية بين الفارسية والعربية: أحمد محمود وعبد الرحمن منيف نموذجاً، والتي تحاول إلقاء الضوء على جانب غير مطروق في الدراسات المقارنة بين الأدبين الفارسي والعربي، ألا وهو الرواية السياسية متمثلة بروائينين من أهمّ الروائيين الفرس والعرب، وهما الروائي الإيراني أحمد محمود والروائي العربي عبد الرحمن منيف.
وبالإضافة إلى جدّة الموضوع، فإنّ ما بعث الباحث على إختيار الموضوع توقّه إلى التوسّع في ما بدأه في رسالة الماجستير بعنوان: المواجهة بين الإنسان والسلطة في روايتي "الجيران" لأحمد محمود و"شرق المتوسط" لعبد الرحمن منيف.
