عبد الغني بن إسماعيل بن عبد الغني النابلسي الدمشقي الحنفي (1050 هـ - 1143 هـ / 1641 - 1731م) شاعر شامي وعالم بالدين والأدب ورحالة مكثر من التصنيف. ولد ونشأ وتصوف في دمشق. قضى سبع سنوات من عمره في دراسة كتابات "التجارب الروحيّة" لِفُقهاء الصوفية. وقد تعدّدت رحلاته عبر العالم الإسلامي، إلى إسطنبول ولبنان والقدس وفلسطين ومصر والجزيرة العربية وطرابلس وباقي البلاد السورية. استقر في مدينته دمشق وتوفي فيها.

يتوجه المصنف بما فتح الله عليه من مسائل في هذا الكتاب إلى من شغلتهم دنياهم عن آخرتهم، ومحبتها عن محبة الله، ليعلموا أنهم إنما بدّلوا لذائذهم الروحانية بلذائذ جسدية، وبأنهم أعرضوا بعقولهم الجاهلة عن فهم حقيقة دينهم الذي هو عصمة أمرهم، ودليلهم لغير معادهم ومعاشهم. وقد رتب المصنف المسائل ضمن سبعة أبواب. كان الأول منها في بيان الذنب، والثاني في التوبة، والباب الثالث في العقيدة الصحيحة، والرابع في بيان الكفر. وخصص الباب الخامس لبيان الإسلام، والسادس لبيان الإيمان، والسابع والأخير تفرد لبيان الإحسان.
