أحس بدوخة لذيذة، دوار منعش من حركة الغدو والرواح للناس والحيوانات، ومن صياحهم وجلبتهم، هذه هي عناصر الخلق المقدسة، هتفت في سري، هذا هو معبد الحياة، هذا هو هيكل الإنسان، لا بخور ولا نار، لا تراتيل ولا أدعية، لا كتب ولا تفاسير. أعتقت نفسي من عزلة الموابذة، أقذف بروحي في صميم معاش الناس، أرى الدين في وجوههم، أسمع الإمان في كلامهم، أحياناً أسمع كفرهم، أعرف المؤمنين من أفعالهم الخيّرة وليس من قنوتهم، الرحمة هنا ليس شعر نبي يُتلى في صلاة، ليس دعاء موبذ يردد بصوت شجي، بل أن تساعد أعمى في الطريق، أن تلعن الشيطان يعني أن تشتري بضاعة لا تحتاجها من أم تحيط بها أفواه جائعة، المحبة ليست مائدة للمؤمنين في يوم عيد إنما هي أن تتصدق على مريض، أن تدفن حفرة من طين خلّفها المطر. صرت ألمسُ حكمة السماء في الأرزاق التي توزعها على الخلق كل يوم، وأدركت أن الإيمان في البازار هو تصديق بلقمة تسد الجوع في آخر النهار.
