جاء هاشم الرفاعي الفترة من( 35 - 1959) وهى فترة خطيرة حفلت بأحداث حسام داخل مصر وخارجها، ففى مصر عايش نهاية الملكية وبداية الجمهورية ، مابين حكم عميل لبريطانية بكافة مساونه، وما بين حكم وطني عميل استبداد غشوم أهلك البلاد والعباد، وفي خارج مصر كانت الأمة الإسلامية قد وقعت أقطارها فريسة لغزوة صليبية فاجرة حاقدة تقاسمت الأقطار الإسلامية بينها، ووادت فيها كل عوامل النهوض والتقدم، وأبت عليها أن تيحا حياة كريمة. وشعر الاتجاه الإسلامية قضية جديرة بالبحث والدراسة لأنها تزخر بالمعانى الإسلامية وتضج بالعاطفة الدينية، وتمثل تياراً قوياً فى الفكر الإسلامي المقاوم لكل ألوان الهزيمة بعيداً عن طغيان السياسة وتحكم الاستبداد. من هنا أخذ الشاعر دوره في إيقاظ الأمة، ومساندة كل اتجاه أصيل فى الحرية والأستقلال، وقد إقتضى هذا البحث المنهج التكاملى لدراسة العمل الأدبى من كافة جاونبة.
