على أن دراسة جنوسة العلاقات في الإسلام لا يمكن أن تتم دون الرجوع إلى النصوص وإخضاعها لعملية مقارنة وتحليل واسعة، وهذا ما أقدم عليه مؤلف الكتاب إذ يخلص الجزء الأول إلى أن الإسلاميين يخطئون المرأة العربية لأخذها مفهوم المساواة والتحرر عن الغربيين ويقولون بأنها بذلك قد أصبحت مستوردة ومقلدة بدلاً من أن تكوم مبدعة أصيلة. كما يبحث الكتاب في الاتجاهات الجديدة في ا لتفسير الإسلامي المعاصر للقرآن وعلاقاتها التبادلية مع النماذج الإسلامية المعاصرة للقضايا الجنوسية.
أما الجزء الثاني فيعرض لحالات دراسية تقدم بها مجموعة من الدارسين والدارسات الذين تناولا الإسلام والجنوسة والتغير الاجتماعي-السياسي.
