أوشاج متناقضة، وتيارات متضاربة متلاحمة، تموج بها الحياة في عصر هجيل حتى لينصهر الفيلسوف الشاب في دوامتها منذ طفولته المبكرة وكأن "الدهاء التاريخي" الذي تحدث عنه فيلسوفنا قد أبى إلا أن يضع هذا العقل العظيم في فترة من أشد فترات التاريخ الحديث حرجاً وعنفاً وخصوبة، فيتقاسم القرنان: الثامن عشر، والتاسع عشر، حياته مناصفة بحيث يعيش في مرحلة انتقال بين هذين القرنين بكل ما يحمله الانتقال من هدم وبناء، وتضارب وتضاد... انتج هيجل خلال حياته العديد من المؤلفات الفكرية الهامة التي كانت لها مكانتها في عالم الفلسفة والعلم، وفيها صب هيجل خلاصة فلسفته في الحياة، ومنهجه الجدلي.
ومن هذه المؤلفات استطاع الدكتور إمام أن يبني نظرياته وأفكاره حول فكر "هيجل" هذا الفكر الذي كثرت حوله الدراسات، وهو في هذه الكتب الثلاثة يحاول تقديم دراسة مستفيضة تدور حول فكر هيجل وبشكل عام تطرق في هذه الأجزاء إلى الموضوعات التالية: ضم المجلد الأول من الدراسات الهيجلية كتابين 1-فلسفة هيجل لوترستيس، 2-هيجل والديمقراطية لميشيل متياس، أما المجلد الثاني فضم دراسة تحدث فيها عن النهج الجديد عن هيجل في حين جاء المجلد الثالث بدراسة تحدثت عما حدث للجدل بعد هيجل، في الميدان العقلي، ثم الميدان الطبيعي، وأخيراً مجال الإنسان.
