تصورت وأنا صغير. ربما ابن تسع سنوات، أننى كذوب فقررت أن أعرف مقدار سوئي هذا. عزمت عد الكذبات التى أقترفها كل يوم من أو ما الذي أدخل فى روحي أنى كذوب؟ لست أدري.. حاولت أن أتذكر ولم أفلح. مر أول يوم لعجبي ولم أكذب . عزبت هذا لكوني أراقب نفسي واضعها موقع الاختيار. لكن مر اليوم الثانى والثالث ناصع الراءة من بعيد وأنا أتأمل هذا الآن. أحسب أن هذا ربما كان بسبب كوني قليل الكلام ومنطو إلى حد ما. في اليوم الرابع حتم على أن أكذب لأنقذ نفسي من خطأ ارتكبته لا أتذكره الآن. قد يكون مكسري لشئ ثمين. اتخذت قراري سريعا. لم أكذب واعترفت ببساطة بفعلتى وتهيأت لا ستقبال عقاب ببطولة سهداء أهل الخندق الذين كنت أعرف قصتهم من وقت قريب. رأيت نفسى مدفوعا معهم فى خندق ملتهب متأجج.. غير أن كل شئ مر بسلاسة.. حتى فكرة الاستبال والشهادة صاعت ولم تعد لها أي قيمة. فقررت أن لا أكذب قدر استطاعتى ربما كنت طفلا خبيثا مناورا. كنت أتيقن رغم نجاح اختيارى أنه لا بد لي من الكذب فى وقت ما فتركت الباب مواربا بهامش ضيق.
