استهدفت الدراسة بيان أثر المناطق الاقتصادية الحرة والصناعية على التنمية الإقتصادية وذلك من خلال دراسة مقارنة بين الإمارات العربية المتحدة إمارة دبي منطقة جبل على والمناطق الحرة بجمهورية مصر العربية ، وعلى ضوء محتوى او مضمون موضوع الدراسة تم تقسيمها إلى فصل تمهيدي وخمسة فصول أخرى ، وقد تناول الباحث في الفصل التمهيدي الإطار الفكري للمناطق الاقتصادية الحرة والصناعية ، وخصص الفصل الأول إلى المناطق الاقتصادية الحرة والصناعية ودورها في إنجاز استراتيجيات التنمية ، من خلال استعراض استراتيجيات التنمية الاقتصادية في الفكر الاقتصادي والنمو غير المتوازن ، وأفرد الفصل الثاني إلى دراسة تحليلية لتجربة المنطقة الاقتصادية الحرة في إمارة دبي ، بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ، وخصص الفصل الثالث إلى دراسة تحليلية للمناطق الإقتصادية الحرة والصناعية في جمهورية مصر العربية ، وتناول في الفصل الرابع عمل مقارنة بين تجربة المناطق الحرة في دبي بمنطقة جبل علي، والمناطق الحرة في مصر ، وأفرد الفصل الخامس إلى الدروس المستفادة من تجربة جبل علي بإمارة دبي بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ، ومن إمكانية تطبيقها على منطقة محور قناة السويس .
