تنقسم هذه الدراسة إلى النظرية العامة للقانون والنظرية العامة للحق. وسنبدأ بشرح النظرية العامة للقانون، حيث ندرس تعريف القانون وما يميزه من خصائص، وما يفرقه عن غيره من قواعد السلوك الإجتماعي، كقواعد الأخلاق، وقواعد الدين. وسنعرض ثانياً التقسيمات الهامة للقانون، وأنواع القواعد القانونية التي تندرج تحت هذه التقسيمات. وسنعالج ثالثاً مصادر القانون التي تنبع منها القواعد القانونية الملزمة، أو يستمد منها تفسير هذه القواعد. وسنتناول رابعاً تكوين القانون وصياغته، حيث نبين العناصر الشكلية والموضوعية التي تساهم في تكوين القواعد القانونية، وطرق صياغته. وسنشرح أخيراً تطبيق القانون، ويقتضي ذلك دراسة تطبيق القانون من حيث الإقليم الذي يحكمه، والمدة الزمنية التي يظل فيها نافذاً، والقواعد الخاصة بتفسير القانون.
