قلت لها : اعتمري قبعة على رأسك في البرد ، وإلا فستتجمد أذناك . انظري ، قلت ، كم من المارة الآن يمشون من دون آذان . فقبلت ، نعم ، نعم يقولون ، ينبغي فعل ذلك ، لكنها لم تعتمر . ضحك على النكتة واستمرت في السير من دون قبعة . خطرت هذه الصورة في ذاكرتي ، على الرغم من أنني لا أعلم عمن يجري الكلام هنا . أو ، لنفترض ، تذکرت فضيحة - بشعة ومرهقة . ليس من الواضح أين نشبت . من المؤسف أن الحوار بدأ بشكل جيد ، ويمكن القول ، بحسن نية ، ومن ثم كلمة بعد كلمة تشاجرنا . الشيء المهم هو أنّي فيما بعد استغربت - لماذا حدث ذلك ، ومن أجل أي شيء ؟ لقد ذكر أحدهم أنه يحدث غالبا في المأتمية ( وليمة تأبين المتوفي ) : لمدة ساعة ونصف الساعة يتحدث الحاضرون عن كيف كان المتوفي شخصا صالحاً . ثم يتذكر أحد الموجودين أن المرحوم کا تبين ، ليس طيباً فقط . وبعد ذلك ، کا لو أن أمراً جاءهم ، يبدأ الكثيرون بالتعبير عن آرائهم ليضيفوا لما قال - وشيئا فشيئا يتوصلون إلى استنتاج مفاده أن المرحوم كان ، في الواقع ، سافلاً " من الدرجة الأولى . أو مشهد خارق للطبيعة إلى حد بعيد : ضرب أحدهم بقطعة من النقانق على رأسه ، وإذا بهذا الشخص يتدحرج على سطح مائل ولا يستطيع أن يتوقف ، ومن جراء هذه الدحرجة يدور رأسه ... رأسي يدور . أنا مستلق على سرير . أين أنا ؟ أسمع خطوات . جاء شخص مجهول يرتدي مريولاً أبيض . وقف ، وبعد أن وضع يده على شفتيه نظر إليّ (في فجوة الباب ثمة رأس شخص ما ) . وفي المقابل ، نظرت إليه - وكأني لم أفتح عيني ، من تحت رموشي شبه المغمضة . وقد لاحظ ارتعاش رموشي .
