يحاول هذا الكتاب أن يشرح بأن رسالة يسوع كانت رسالة معلم روحي. وهذه الرسالة تتعلق بالرسالة الإلهية للمعلمين الروحيين الذين جاؤوا قبله والذين ما يزالون يأتون الى هذا العالم. يشكل يسوع، وموسى، وبوذا، وكريشنا، ولاوتزو وكثيرون من المعلمين الروحيين جزءاً من العملية الروحية التي تبغي أن ترفع أكثر فأكثر، وعي العالم الى مستوى أعلى. لم يكن يسوع مخلص العالم الوحيد ولا ابن الله الوحيد، ولكي نبرهن هذا الادعاء، علينا أن نبعد كل التعاليم اللاهوتية والعقائد التي تبنتها الكنيسة بعد ذهاب يسوع من هذا العالم المادي. علينا أن نعتبر فقط أقوال وأمثال يسوع لكي نعرف يسوع الحقيقي ونفهم رسالته الحقيقية.
كانت هذه المهمة صعبة خلال الألفي سنة الماضية. أما الآن فإن المهمة سهلة حتى على الباحث متوسط النمو الروحي الذي يفتش عن الحقيقة الروحية. علم يسوع رسالة روحية ثورية، تختلف كثيراً عن التقاليد اليهودية. إن سوء فهم المسيحيين اليهود الأوائل ليسوع الحقيقي جاء نتيجة انهماكهم في الشروحات الصوفية للكتب اليهودية وخلفيتهم الدينية المتعلقة بالذبائح الحيوانية.
