أحمد عبد اللطيف بيضون، (ولد سنة 1943 في بنت جبيل)، سياسي وكاتب وباحث ومؤرخ لبناني.
كان مع وضاح شرارة وفواز طرابلسي من أبرز قيادي حركة لبنان الاشتراكي.
سنة 1970 اندمجت حركة لبنان الاشتراكي مع منظمة الاشتراكيين اللبنانيين لتشكل منظمة العمل الشيوعي في لبنان.
أصبح بيضون عضوا في مكتبها السياسي لكنه ما لبث أن غادرها سنة 1973 مع شرارة.
والده هو النائب السابق عبد اللطيف بيضون.
متزوج من عزة شرارة (شقيقة وضاح شرارة) ولهما بنتان توأم.

يتضمن هذا الكتاب مجموعة مقالات، وثيقة الصلة بكتابين سابقين للمؤلف نفسه، وهو في مجمله يدور حول حديث العروبة أو حديث فينقيا ويولي عناية فائقة حديث الانتخابات النيابية التي بشرت بالاستقلال. والطائفية ونظامها تشكلان أصلب محور يدور حول الكتاب وهو محور يقول عنه المؤلف ساير أطوار الوضع العام في تكونه من نص إلى نص ولم نصطنعه دفقة واحدة. وهذه المسايرة سيقف عليها القارئ وإن يكن تتابع المقالات يباشر الأطوار المشار إليها من آخرها.
وفي الكتاب سبعة محاور، الطائفية حالاً ومقالاً، ترجمة التعريب، أشباح فينيقيا، تغريب البحث، تفرق الجامعة، مرايا الاستقلال، وكوابيس الجوار. وهي في مجموعة تشدد على اعتبار الظروف المحيطة المكونة للظواهر أو المعترضة لمجرى أمورها. وهي بحث في بين النظام الاجتماعي والعامة، وفي حبكة المحيط أيضاً.
