ن جوانب عظمة هذا الدين الحنيف أن عنصري القِدم والجِدة قد اجتمعا في أحكامه، فهو قديم في عمر الزمان، إلا أنّ أحكامه وأصوله الخالدة قد تجاوزت حدود الزمان، وكأنها تنزل من جديد لكل جديد. وكثيرة هي المسائل التي تطرح على بساط هذا البحث، وقد كسيت ثوب الجدة ليطلب من العقول البشرية القاصرة أن تنظر فيها وتحكم وتخترع الحلول. وقضايا البيئة تدور في هذه الرحى، في حين يعتقد الكثيرون أن الاهتمام بها، والدعوة إلى الحفاظ على مواردها وإيجاد الحلول لمشكلاتها أمر مستحدث لم يُعهد من قبل، وأن للغربيين قدم السّبق في ذلك. تبرز أهمية البيئة والحفاظ عليها في النقاط التالية: 1 ـ البيئة هي المجال الذي من خلاله يحيا الإنسان، فالمحافظة عليها إذن هي محافظة على ما به وجود الإنسان. 2 ـ البيئة بما فيها مسخّرة للإنسان لاستغلال مواردها، واستثمار طاقاتها، وعمارة أرضها؛ ومقتضى التسخير المحافظة على المسخرات، ليدوم الانتفاع ويكمل. 3 ـ واجب الإنسان تجاه النعمة هو الشكر عليها، وأكبر نعمة للإنسان هي نعمة إيجاده من العدم، وقد ربط الله ﯻ وجوده بنظام كونيّ؛ فالحفاظ عليه هو وجه من أوجه الشكر على نعمة الإيجاد. 4 ـ الحاجة الملحة لطرح قضايا البيئة تحت مجهر الإسلام، وتسليط الضوء على بعض الحلول الإسلامية لمشكلات أعيت العلماء. 5 ـ الأهمية العالمية التي تكتسبها البيئة؛ نظراً لتأثر العالم بأسره بها. 6 ـ البحث في موضوع البيئة يعكس شمولية الشريعة الإسلاميـة، وأسبقيتها، وأحقيتهـا بالتطبيق؛ لأنهـا تشريع ربانيّ ممن خلق البيئة ومكوناتها.
