رجع مؤلفُه البصرَ في أحوال المسلمين وهم يستقبلون شهر رمضان المعظم في هذه الأيام، فوجد البون شاسعًا بين ما نفعله في زماننا من مظاهر استقبال هذا الشهر الفضيل، وما كان عليه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأصحابه رضي الله عنهم، ومن ثَمَّ ضمَّنه مباحثَ مستخرجةً من مَعِينِ شهر رمضانَ؛ صيامِه وقيامِه، وسائرِ ما فيه من كريمِ القُرُبات، وسَنِيِّ الطَّاعاتِ، وأَثِيرِ المنازلِ والمَقَاماتِ، التي يتزوَّدُ منها المسلمُ في هذا الزَّمان؛ مزدلفًا بها إلى ربِّه؛ مُبْتَغِيًا بها الوَسيلةَ إلى رِضوانه. فهو كتاب – بحق- يحتوي جملةً من المسائل التي تمَسُّ الحاجةُ إليها، وتَقوى الرَّغبةُ في معرفتها والوقوف عليها، وإدراك دقائقها وأسرارها، من جهة الصائمين القائمين المتعبِّدينَ، الذين يرجونَ أنْ يتَّخذوا من أيَّامِ هذا الشَّهْر الغُرِّ، ولياليه الزُّهْر، فرصةً ومضمارًا لاستباق الخَيْرات، والتَّنافُس في الباقياتِ الصَّالحاتِ
