مفكر وفيلسوف مصري. عَمِل أستاذاً بجامعة القاهرة، وله العديد من المؤلفات في مواضيع فلسفية معاصرة وفلسفية تراثية.
ولد عاطف العراقي في 15 نوفمبر 1935 في محافظة الدقهلية. حصل على ليسانس الفلسفة من كلية الآداب ، جامعة القاهرة ، عام 1957، ثم على دبلوم كلية التربية ، جامعة عين شمس ، عام 1958. وبعد ذلك حصل على ماجستير فى الفلسفة من كلية الآداب ، جامعة القاهرة ، عام 1965، ثم دكتوراه فى الفلسفة من كلية الآد مفكر وفيلسوف مصري. عَمِل أستاذاً بجامعة القاهرة، وله العديد من المؤلفات في مواضيع فلسفية معاصرة وفلسفية تراثية.

ثورة العقل فى الفلسفة العربية.
الميتافيزيقا فى الفلسفة ابن طفيل.
المنهج النقدى فى فلسفة ابن رشد.
العقل التنويرى فى الفكر العربى المعاصر.
تحقيق كتاب الأصول والفروع لابن حزم.

إذا كان مؤلف الكتاب قد قضى مايقرب من نصف قرن من الزمن، وع كتب ابن رشد وأفكاره وفلسفته، فقد وجد من واجبه التنبيه على الدور الكبير للفلسفة الرشدية في تقديم حلول لأكثر مشكلاتنا الفكرية والثقافية في حياتنا المعاصرة، يتضمن الكتاب قسمين: قسماً محوره "فلسفة ابن رشد والمستقبل" ويبحث في التراث الرشدي برؤية عقلية نقدية، وفلسفة ابن رشد وفكرنا العربي المعاصر، ودور الفلسفة الرشدية في التنوير، والدفاع عن ثقافة العولمة، ثقافة المستقبل.
أما القسم الثاني، فإنه يعد دراسة لأكثر ما يتعلق بالفلسفة من خلال العديد من المؤتمرات، والكتب التي اهتمت بفلسفة ابن رشد ومنهجه، وأيضاً دراسات كثير من نقاد الفلسفة الرشدية والمحتفلين بها من خلال عشرات الكتب وآلاف الصفحات التي كتبها المؤلف عن ابن رشد وفلسفته.
من واجب أبناء أمتنا العربية فتح الأبواب من خلال الفلسفة الرشدية على الفكر الإنساني التنويري، والابتعاد تماماً عن كل فكر تقليدي مظلم، إ،ها دعوة من جانبنا في ذكرى وفاة رائدنا الفيلسوف ابن رشد، فهل ستجد صداها في عقول أبناء أمتنا؟..
