ولدينا أربعة موضوعات رئيسية تندرج تحت اصطلاح "قانون الكمبيوتر وهذه الكتب الأربعة هي: (الكتاب الأول: قانون البرمجيات، الكتاب الثاني: عقود الكمبيوتر، الكتاب الثالث: جرائم الكمبيوتر، الكتاب الرابع: قانون نظم المعلومات)، وسوف نوضح في هذا الكتاب بإذن الله كيف استطاعت نظم قانونية عديدة بيان الحدود الفاصلة وكيف رسمت بوضوح الإطار القانوني لاستغلال الكمبيوتر واستعماله وحمايته، ومجالات الكمبيوتر ونظم المعلومات ذات العلاقة بمو ضوعات الملكية الفكرية عديدة وربما لا تقع تحت حصر بسبب تطورها المستمر، إلا أنه مما لاشك فيه أن برنامج الكمبيوتر هو أهم هذه المجالات على الإطلاق، فهو لب صناعة الكمبيوتر وعصبها، وذلك على خمسة أبواب هي: (الباب الأول: مفاهيم وأساسيات، الباب اثاني: الحماية القانونية لبرامج الكمبيوتر، الباب الثالث: استخدام البرنامج، الباب الرابع: الأحكام القانونية الخاصة بصور أخرى من البرمجيات، الباب الخامس: الإجراءات والجزاءات).
