لقد اتسمت أعمال كلّ من الصدر والمطهري في العديد من نتاجهما المعرفي والفكري بأنه عمل تجريدي إصلاحي منفتح على واقع الحداثة والمعاصرة.

وقد جاء هذا الكتاب لتسليط الضوء على المشهد الفكري والمعرفي عند كلٍّ منهما، إضافةً إلى الوقوف على أهم المحطات في سيرتهما الذاتية الحافلة بالعلم والجهاد والسلوك والعرفان.
