تنبني فكرة هذا الكتاب على أن الروايات متى صحّت عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فهي سُنَّةٌ يجب على المسلمين العمل بها، والتمسك بما فيها، واتباعها، والدعوة إليها، لا فرق في ذلك بين رواية وأخرى، ولا بين عقيدة وعبارة؛ إذا لكل شرع، ولا يجوز لكائن من الناس أن يقسّم رواياتها الثابتة فيعمل ببعضها ويترك بعضها، فهذا قد آمن ببعضٍ وترك بعضاً. فيخشى عليه الدخول في قوله تعالى: "أفتؤمنون ببعض الكتب وتكفرون ببعضٍ ..." [البقرة:85].
ولهذه الغاية، يضع الأستاذ صلاح بن فتحي هلل كتابه المعنون "نظرات في تقسيم السُّنّة إلى متواتر وآحاد .. تاريخ التقسيم وآثاره على السُّنَّة" للبحث فيمن جاء بتقسيم وافدٍ للسنن، ما بين "متواتر وآحاد" بعد ما تسرب إلى ديار المسلمين، وتداوله متكلمو المعتزلة، وأشاعوه ونشروه. ومن ثمّ تم للمؤلف البحث في "تقسيم السُّنن"، عند أئمة الإسلام، مقارنة بما ذكره اصحاب "التفاريق" أي المفرقون بين النصوص. واضاف لهذا كله إشارات عن منزلة "أخبار الآحاد" في السُّنة والشريعة، وضرورتها الشرعية والعقلية، وبيان أصول الإستدلال على ضرورتها، إجمالاً دون تفصيل واستطراد في أدلتها الفرعية. وختم كتابه هذا بإشارات إلى جهود أهل الحديث في الكلام على الرواة والآسانيد، وما يعانيه أئمة الحديث من جهدٍ وكدٍّ، في سبيل تثبيت الروايات وتصحيحها.
وعليه، يشكل هذا الكتاب إضافة مهمة إلى المكتبة الإسلامية، لما يحتويه من جهد ونظر في عقائد الإسلا م، وكتبهم، وحمايتها من دسائس أعداء الدين وأفكارهم.
