وجد النحل قبل بداية الإنسانية يعيش في الكهوف والجبال وجذوع الأشجار والعروش واستحوذ النحل على إعجاب الإنسان لما لاحظه في حياته وطبائعه من معجزات وعجائب من النظام التعاوني والعمل بدون كلل في البحث عن الغذاء وصناعته، وموتها في الدفاع عن طائفتها، والكفاءة النادرة في جمع الرحيق وتحويله للعسل وخزن الزائد منه لوقت الحاجة، مما دعى الإنسان في العصور القديمة إلى الاعتقاد في قدسيته، فبدأ الإنسان يسطو على العسل من عش النحل في الطبيعة، يقدمه قرابين للآلة ويتذوق منه الغذاء ذو الطعم والمذاق الحلو. ومع الأيام أحس الإنسان بفوائده الوقائية والعلاجية، وحاول استئناسه على مر الأزمان، محاولًا تربيته وإسكانه.
ولم يتمكن خلال تلك الفترة من التربية السليمة. بدون مشاهدة ما بداخل الخلية وأعمال النحل لتكوين هذا الغذاء الشهي رغم احتوائه على حبوب اللقاح حتى عام 1851 عندما توصل العالم لانجستروث إلى اكتشافه المسافة النحلية، والتي يتركها النحل بين الأقراص في الطبيعة، وتمكن من اختراع الإطارات المتحركة في خلايا خشبية سميت باسمه.
وقد كان اكتشاف الخلية الحديثة واختراع الأساس الشمعي هما بداية التربية الصحيحة للنحل وبداية لاكتشافات أخرى كبيرة ساعدت في تقدم التربية وانتشارها في العالم وبلاد كثيرة وتعددت الفوائد منها، ولم تقتصر على إنتاج العسل بل تعدت إلى إنتاج الشمع والغذاء الملكي والملكات والطرود، وتقدمت وسائل استخلاص العسل والشمع كما تعددت أصنافه وألوانه وطرق تربيته.
وهذه محاولة منا لوضع قدمك على بداية طريق تربية النحل وإرشادك للخطوات اللازمة والمتبعة خلال فصول السنة ونقل مهارة وخبرة الآخرين لزيادة قدرتك على تربية النحل وزيادة إنتاجك وجذب الكثير. لهذا الميدان إما للغرض الاقتصادي أو لإشباع هواية جميلة وجذابة.
