قدّمت الكاتبة في هذا العمل، الذي يقع في 118 صفحة، بانوراما لدواوين الشاعر، مُحلّلة أهمّ الثيمات التي عمق فيها الشاعر تجاربه الشعورية، لا سيما علاقته بالموروث الثقافي الخليجي بشكل عام، والبحريني بشكل خاص، فقد انطلقت من الحقول الدلالية لقصائد الشاعر حيث تقول: "كيف تستطيع الكلمات أن تقدم شاعرا بهذا القدر من العمق والوعي بالموروث الثقافي كبنية تحتية ثقافية للفرد العربي، ولمخياله الجمعي في سجل بشري حافل بالمتغيرات والآمال والآلام، وهو يصور بشكل عفوي تفاصيل الحياة اليومية مستكشفا دواخل تلك الهموم المؤرقة لإنسان يحلم بحياة آمنة مطمئنة".
وللغوص في بستان علي خليفة الشعري، تقف الكاتبة عند محطات إنسانية منيرة تساهم في عظمة وكبرياء الشعر العربي: تلك التي تساهم في بناء الصورة الشعرية المبتكرة التي تعطينا إضاءة حول الوعي الحيّ للشاعر، وماذا أضاف من ابتكارات بكل وعي للمكتبة الشعرية العربية.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ الكاتبة ناقشت في كتابها هذا مجموعة من قصائد الشّاعر المختارة من دواوينه العشرة، بداية من (أنين الصواري) الصادر في بيروت عن دار العلم للملايين 1969، وصولا إلى ديوان (تهويدة لنجمة البحر) 2019 مرورا بديوان (قمر وحيدLune Solitaire ) المترجم إلى الفرنسية 2006 والبرتغالية 2014. إلى ذلك، فالكاتبة الدكتورة الصائغ ناقدة معروفة بمكانتها الأكاديمية الرفيعة، عملت أستاذة للأدب والبلاغة في كبريات جامعات العراق والأردن واليمن، حاليا أستاذة الأدب الحديث بجامعة متشيغان الأمريكية منذ 2010.
أشرفت على العديد من أطاريح الماجستير والدكتوراه، ونشرت أكثر من 24 كتابا نقديا في الأدب نال بعضها جوائز عربية مرموقة.
