استطاعت حركة أمل أن تفرض نفسها كقوة سياسية داخل الطائفة الشيعية، منذ إنتصار الثورة الإسلامية في إيران، وأن يستمر وجودها السياسي في الإطار اللبناني، وتستمر علاقتها الوثيقة مع سورية.
ثم ظهر حزب الله، الذي يتميز عن معظم الحركات الإسلامية العربية بمحاربة الإحتلال الصهيوني عبر المقاومة الإسلامية، الذراع المسلّح للحزب في سياق إستراتيجية إستيعابه للمعطيات اللبنانية والإقليمية، المحددة بعوامل سياسية يجري تشكّلها في إطار دينامية التعاون الوثيق السوري - الإيراني، ومسار الصراع العربي - الصهيوني.
يعالج هذا الكتاب نشوء الحركة الإسلامية وتطورها في لبنان، المتعدد الأديان والطوائف، ويخص بالدراسة تجربتي أمل وحزب الله، نشوء كلّ منهما، وأصول إتفاقهما، وإختلافهما، وتأثير ذلك على الساحة اللبنانية.
